The National Park Service Maintains three bike trails within the Cape Cod National Seashore:
- Province Lands Bike Trail
Not for the timid, this five-mile loop sends you on a hilly ride through forests, sand dunes and freshwater ponds. A little difficult on the legs, but well worth it because of its spectacular views.
- Head of the Meadow Bike Trail
This is a nice, flat trail through marshes and forests. It starts at Head of the Meadow Beach and ends at High Head, one beautiful unspoiled piece of Cape Cod (two miles each way). If you haven't been on a bicycle for awhile, this is a great place to start!
- Nauset Bike Trail
This trail connects Salt Pond with Coast Guard Beach. It leads through pine and oak forest with vistas of Nauset Marsh along the way. 1 1/2 miles each way.

Cape Cod Rail Trail
The Old Colony Railroad ran from Boston to Provincetown from 1878 to 1959. After passenger service stopped, a right-of-way was maintained, a protion of which was transformed into the Cape Cod Rail Trail. The Rail trail is
22 miles in length, running through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet.
The trail is fully paved, with a wide shoulder perfect for walking, running or horseback riding. There are relatively few hills and automobile intersections are well marked. You'll pass by
some beaches where you can cool off on a hot summer day, and restrooms can be found at Nickerson State Park, Salt Pond Visitors Center and the National Seashore Headquarters.
